Pregnancy has taught me to appreciate my uterus in completely new and different ways. Not only how the uterus works, but what it is capable of is nothing short of magical. Pregnancy is a physical and emotional journey that at times is extremely challenging, but experiencing these changes in my uterus has helped me understand just how powerful our bodies actually are. Growing a human being inside me has to be one of the most surreal things I have ever had the privilege of experiencing.⠀ ⠀ PRE-PREGNANCY⠀ The uterus size varies in woman to woman, but roughly is the size of an orange and is situated deep in the pelvis.⠀ ⠀ FIRST TRIMESTER⠀ By the end of your first trimester your uterus will reach the size of a grapefruit. At this stage the uterus still fits within the pelvis area.⠀ ⠀ SECOND TRIMESTER⠀ By the end of your second trimester your uterus will reach the size of a papaya. At this stage your uterus outgrows your pelvis and moves midway between your navel and breasts. ⠀ ⠀ THIRD TRIMESTER⠀ By the end of your third trimester your uterus will reach the size of a watermelon! At this stage your uterus extends from the pubic area to the bottom of the rib cage. Once your baby is ready she/he will drop lower into your pelvis in preparation to enter this world. ⠀ ⠀ POST-PREGNANCY⠀ After pregnancy your uterus goes through deflation which they call involution. This stage takes an estimated 6 weeks to complete. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ Design: ©2017 Duvet Days / All Rights Reserved⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ Shop: DesignsByDuvetDays.com

How well do you know the male reproductive system? It is just as important to not only know your own anatomy as a woman it is equally important to know the male anatomy as well. Both the male and female bodies are incredible and educating ourselves with the intricacies helps us not only respect and love our own bodies, but that of our partners. ⠀ ⠀ PENIS⠀ The penis has a long shaft that can vary in length and width and has an enlarged bulbous-shaped tip called the glans penis. Depending on if the male was circumcised or not the tip will either be protected by the foreskin or will be exposed. When males become sexually aroused, the penis becomes erect. Erection occurs because sinuses within the erectile tissue of the penis become filled with blood.⠀ ⠀ TESTIS⠀ The Testis are protected by the scrotum which is a pouch-like structure that hangs behind the penis. It holds and protects the testicles. It also contains numerous nerves and blood vessels. The scrotum reacts to temperature so during lower temperatures the Cremaster muscle contracts and pulls the scrotum closer to the body, while the Dartos muscle gives it a wrinkled appearance; in higher temperatures, the Cremaster and Dartos muscles relax to bring down the scrotum away from the body and less wrinkles appear.⠀ ⠀ There is so much more to the male reproductive system that is not visible from the exterior and are rarely talked about, the internal genital organs.⠀ ⠀ EPIDIDYMIS⠀ The epididymis are cupped against the testicles and act as a maturation and storage for sperm before they pass into the vas deferens, that carry sperm to the ampullary gland and prostatic ducts.⠀ ⠀ VAS DEFERENS⠀ The vas deferens (sperm duct) is a thin tube approximately 30 centimetres (0.98 ft) long that starts from the epididymis to the pelvic cavity. It carries the spermatozoa from the epididymis to ejaculatory duct.⠀ ⠀ ACCESSORY GLANDS⠀ There are 3 accessory glands that provide fluids that lubricate the duct system and nourish the sperm. They are the seminal vesicles, the prostate gland, and the bulbourethral glands.⠀ ⠀ Design: ©2017 Duvet Days / All Rights Reserved⠀⠀ ⠀ Shop: DesignsByDuvetDays.com

The clitoris has approximately 8,000 nerve endings and its only purpose for existence is to provide pleasure for us. How lucky are we as women to have a clitoris! We have almost twice as many nerve endings in just our clit than men do on the head of their penis yet our clits are so rarely explored by our lovers or even ourselves. I personally know I was not educated on my clitoris nor was there even a mention of it. It was something I had to educated myself on, but it truly deserves to be talked about and honored.⠀ ⠀ The clitoris is similar to a penis in the sense that it swells during arousal and has glans, foreskin, and a shaft. It obviously looks and functions differently, but deserves the same attention and care the penis gets if not more. The clitoris not only is a little pink button for pleasure, but it actually has a body that comes in the shape of a wishbone that extends 3" into your vagina. It connects to every part of the vagina as well as your g-spot. ⠀ ⠀ So take sometime to learn about your clitoris this weekend and explore this incredible gem either by yourself or with your lover. Intimacy and sex is so much more than just penetration and we all need to honor our bodies by giving it the attention and time it deserves. ⠀ Design: ©2017 Duvet Days / All Rights Reserved Shop: DesignsByDuvetDays.com
